Merry Christmas from SCS
Merry Christmas!
Christmas Eve - RG
World Enchantment
When Christmas Eve enters the battlefield each player exiles the top three cards of their library face-down.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if it is past the twelfth turn, flip Christmas Eve.
//
Christmas Day
World Enchantment
At the beginning of each player’s upkeep that player reveals a face-down card exiled by Christmas Eve that they own. That player may play that card without paying its mana cost.
Hey everyone hope you are having a good holiday, I know we are. As usual here is our holiday article...it's a Make up card! (I don't know if this is gonna be a thing or not...but we like it so far). Like Thanksgiving we made it a World Enchant that way you can never have more than one holiday at the same time. Obviously the idea is opening presents and waiting. This card seems fun but impossibly unplayable in a one on one match other than casual.
Also the new U/G planeswalker came out Kiora is out, we will talk about her later but first impression is very good for standard but not so great past that.
Any way from me (Lolzor) and Baalhrezem have a wonderful holiday season with whatever you celebrate. See you on Sunday for the stream.

MUCMonday #45
Making Up Cards Monday #45:
And now for our most popular segment of Snow Covered Swamp: MUCMonday.
As usual Lolzor will fill this in with valuable information on how we made the card.
Healing Constituent
Instant
(Nonexistent mana costs can’t be paid.)
Healing Constituent is white.
Apothic - If two or more creatures are attacking you or a planeswalker you control, you may reveal this card from your hand and put a copy of this spell on the stack. Use this ability only once per turn.
Prevent two damage from a source. Gain life equal to damage prevented this way.
This was a tricky one to make...we wanted a specific flavor but it was weird with how we set this cycle up. Overal im ok with how it came out.
A God Amonst Men - 4WWW
Legendary Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature
As A God Amongst Men enters the battlefield, all creatures become 1/1 with no abilities and is a Worshiper in addition to it’s other types.
Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 for each Worshiper on the battlefield..
So this one was fully my idea (Lolzor) I wanted a Ixodron + Humility + Anthem + Aura
It fit the idea of an over costed white card it would mostly not see play except in Commander...and would feel fucking amazing when it hit. Also the idea of it hinders the idea of cheating it out early as a kind of innate hindrance to it being a power one on one card.
Avenge the Fallen - 2W
Sorcery
This turn, for each nontoken creature that leaves the battlefield that you control, put a 1/1 white soldier onto the battlefield.
Inverted version of the black card we made, Kicking and Screaming
Thanks for reading! Sorry for the late article.

25k views celebration!
25,000 views celebration!
Unfortunately the last time we made a major benchmark on SnowCoveredSwamp, we really didn't celebrate in any big ways. We just kind of mentioned it and forgot about it.
Well this time we are doing something totally different!
The rules are simple:
We get a free trial server. In this particular case we will try out treepuncher.com's 48-hour trial server.
We beat the game. What constitutes beating the game? Obviously killing the final boss and watching the credits.
It's kind of a pass-or-fail thing. So we could definitely disappoint you guys.
So if you look forward to a speedrun of someone who doesn't know a whole lot about minecraft, and seeing a sleep-deprived person. You should definitely tune in to our SCS Live! stream.
This post is kind of pre-emptive because we hit 25,000 views, but me (Sefah) and Lolzor will work on scheduling issues on when this can and will happen. It's probably going to be on the weekend to be honest.

MUCMonday #44
Making Up Cards Monday #44:
And now for our most popular segment of Snow Covered Swamp: MUCMonday.
As usual Lolzor will fill this in with valuable information on how we made the card.
Reflection Constituent
Instant
(Nonexistent mana costs can’t be paid.)
Reflection Constituent is blue.
Apothic - If you drew two or more cards this turn, you may reveal Reflection Constituent from your hand and put a copy of this spell on the stack. Use this ability only once per turn.
Draw a card. If it’s your turn, discard a card.
More in the Apothic! I think we are almost done with these...im not keeping track. Any way blue was a weird one to do, most of the colors were really obvious flavor blue not so much. We went with a draw card because it seemed appropriate the discard was to keep it from being too good. Its more Izzet feel but I still like it.
Screaming Angel - 3BB
Creature - Angel
Flying
Whenever Screaming Angel attacks, you may pay B. If you do, tap target creature defending player controls.
3/3
This guy is more of our "Need more draft fodder for the set" but I like him he is a dying angel so he gets to have white powers and I would put him in my draft deck.
Smithereen Smasher - 4R
Creature - Giant Berserker
When Smithereen Smasher enters the battlefield destroy target artifact. If you do, gain life equal to its converted mana cost.
3/2
Man...I love this card not because its good but because its just a solid draft sideboard. I was really happy with it. Again its more draft fodder while still trying to be interesting.
Alright guys that's it for today but check in later this week for more articles (mind you we are still in Finals Week so I cant say we will be on time...)

Turkey Day - GW
World Enchantment
Whenever a player casts a spell, they may say why they are thankful for it. If they do, they put a 1/1 green turkey onto the battlefield under their control.
0, sacrifice a turkey: Gain 2 life. Any player may activate this ability.
Sorry we have been so absent this week, tends to happen around the holidays. We should be streaming tonight at some point a Turkey Day special so check that out.
We went with a World Enchant because...why not!
Hope you enjoy our silly card!

RCotD #221
Random Card of the Day #221:
Pygmy Allosaurus - 2G
Creature - Lizard
Swampwalk
2/2
The card itself? Whatever. Slightly below curve and will never see play outside of draft.
Creature type Dinosaur being oracled out? Seriously? C'mon wizards, you can do better than that.
Wait, this thing was a rare?
2/5 Limited
2/5 Constructed
Unless it was to build a dinosaur deck. It wouldn't be that great, but 5/5 for flavor.
(I know, I know. A very uninteresting card to talk about. But c'mon. Dinosaurs.)

RCotD #220
Random Card of the Day #220:
Rotted Hystrix - 4G
Creature - Beast
3/6
Well this isn't a very interesting card to talk about. It's a vanilla green creature that's very splashable.
So instead I'll reiterate something I mentioned about mana costs and break even points for vanilla creatures.
1-cost 1/1
2-cost 2/2
3-cost 3/3
4-cost 4/5
5-cost 6/6
6-cost 7/8
7-cost 9/9
These are the baselines for "good" vanilla creatures. The reason is that basically up 3 mana, there is not much of a use. But you aren't guaranteed 4 lands in a hand, and anything beyond that becomes more valueable (as it should be--the more mana you put into a spell the better).
Color intensity also matters. So for example a 2-cost GG should be a 3/2 or 2/3. See: Garruk's Companion. For GGG you can get Leatherback Baloth.
Making it multi-colored also makes it's value increase as you aren't guaranteed the colors. Such as a GW 3/3 Watchwolf or RGW Woolly Thoctar.
But as a vanilla creature, it will never see constructed play.
It could be okay in draft. 20-23rd card.

Lolzor's Current Life in Standard.
So...anyone who follows us on twitter (@SnoCoveredSwamp) or at least me personally (@Lolzor_SCS) should know that I said I was quitting standard...I lied. Basically I saw my friend playing a sweet Rakdos deck and I made a similar version of it and now I'm back in this. I figured for this weeks article I'd talk about it.
The deck is simple Removal + Removal + Removal + 2 Good Creatures = Win. The 2 good creatures being Desecration Demon and Stormbreath Dragon. Basically Demon is sweet since its 6/6 for 4 and its "downside" is more board control, and Stormbreath is just the Thundermaw of this set in the sense that it is an efficient haster that brings in the win. The deck also runs 4 Mutavaults and 3 Rakdos Keyrunes so you can also run the ping war while you control the game.
Red/Black gives you all the relevant removal spells being: Dreadbore, Hero's Downfall, Devour Flesh, Ultimate Price, Anger of the Gods, Shock...ect.
The strength of this deck is it's very adaptive which is a blessing and a curse. A casual player wont know what's being run in his or her store or probably what even that popular, but a more experienced play knows what to have main decked and what to have sideboarded each week. Again the strength is that the core is just the idea of 2 biggies and removal so you just fit the removal needed for that week in and bam top 8 deck.
Other versions of this deck run Chandra for the control match up among other things...I couldn't get my hands on any so I sub'd in 2 Rakdos Returns mainboard to basically add some hand control (That and that card is just insane right now).
Over all i have been pulling out mainly 3-1 with the deck due to my poor sideboarding or greedy play. The deck is simple but careful but I am having a great time with it.
That's all for today see you guys on Sunday for SCSLive! over at www.twitch.tv/snowcoveredswamp

RCotD #219
Random Card of the Day #219:
Infernal Tutor - 1B
Sorcery
Reveal a card from your hand. Search your library for a card with the same name as that card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library. Hellbent — If you have no cards in hand, instead search your library for a card, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.
A balanced version of Demonic Tutor? Without Hellbent I want to say it's like a bad Transmute, and with Hellbent it's just a strictly worse version of the aforementioned Demonic Tutor
Now that said this card is really good. Trying to make it compare to one of the best fetch in the game and then saying "it's worse than it" doesn't really say much about the card. This card could most definitely see play in many formats (well, maybe not singleton/EDH) and has the potential to be a very clutch topdeck.
Constructed: 4/5
Limited: 2/5, honestly how many cards could it pull without Hellbent?
Trivia on Hellbent:
If a hellbent ability of a spell is a self-replacement that changes the effect of that spell, the number of cards in its controller's hand is checked as the spell resolves. It is not checked when the spell is played.

Poros, Time Lords, and the Desert Bus.
So you may have noticed a few things popping up on out Twitter and Facebook...those things kinda look like the picture above. Well good job on noticing because its that time of year again! What time is that you ask? Well it's Desert Bus time! Which, for the uninformed, is a charity event put on by the fine people over at LoadingReadyRun. Basically they play a video game known as Desert Bus for as long as we keep donating. The game itself is possible torture but its torture for a good cause. For more info go to that fancy website in the graphic.
So why is SnowCoveredSwamp advertising for another site? Well duh we like charity and also Lolzor has been an avid donater since DB2 and Baalhrezem since I believe DB4. This is just a great event for a great charity.
As an added bonus Stream watcher and friend of the site PennyLane has a piece in the give aways! She has been nice enough to link our site in her post (Having no actual site of her own)
http://desertbus.org/giveaway/33
And on top of that our old comic artist Azyzl has 2 items as well (Surprisingly not pony related)
http://desertbus.org/giveaway/80
Anyway that's enough of that. Watch and donate it starts next week.

In case you missed our live stream (link is over on the right), here was an amusing happen stance in a Hearthstone game we played.
Enjoy! (it may require an ad to play)

Tournament Structures (group stages)
Tournament Structures:
Alright so this may seem more like a rage-article more than anything--or atleast that's how the idea came about. I've been trying to gather my thoughts on it for a while now so I can illustrate the poor example that the League of Legends Season 3 World Championship set for tournament structures.
In case you didn't know, the S3WC had 14 teams present. 4 of them got BYEs for performing well in the All-Star tournament. The other 10 teams were split into groups of 5 in a best of 2 (bo2), where the top 2 advance and the other 3 drop out of the tournament. The seeding for those 4 that advance out of the group stage are randomly seeded, and then the bracket stage begins where it's a bo3 for the quarterfinals, bo5 for everything beyond that in a single elimination bracket.
Alright, that was quite a mouthful. Now let's break this down into what is wrong with this. Firstly let's break down how the group stages should go. Similar to how the UEFA group stage is set up would be optimal--3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 for a loss. This is important because there is a blue-side advantage in League of Legends. So there must be an even number of games played versus each opponent--one on blue and one on purple (red) side. (Or 2 and 2 in the case of NA/EU LCS.)
It made it so the difference between 1 point per each game win and 3 points for each series win is meaningful. The overall results would not have changed in the S3WC group stages, but it's nonetheless a better system.
Okay now for a less important topic on group stages: the number of teams in each group. It may seem like a trivial thing (which is really is) but the optimal number of teams in a group stage is 5. Why five? Because it's the smallest integer above four--and 4 is inadequate.
So the first problem with 4 teams in each group is that it is impossible for a team to not play back-to-back. If you have the schedule:
Then one unfortunate team is forced to play with no downtime in between. You can decrease this advantage by having mandatory breaks between matches/games but it's still a disadvantage nonetheless.
Another thing that could be wrong with 4 teams is the general structure. In Blizzard's WCS for StarCraft II, each group has four players. A vs B ; C vs D -- then the winner of each match faces each other and likewise for the losers. Then the winner of losers and the loser of the winners face each other to see who qualifies for the 2nd seed of the group. The problem? This is exactly a double-elimination bracket. Honestly, why even call it a group stage?
If you make it go round robin, then there's chances of 3-way ties, which make the whole group twice as long, and if you were going to do round robin to determine seeds why not combine all the groups and play round robin? Or even better: do swiss rounds? Why even make it so the loss of group stages makes it so a team is out of the tournament, without playing many of the other teams? This was especially frustrating in Riot Games' S3WC group stages where the regions of NA, WU, KR, etc. clash once a year--and more games were anticipated for many of the regions.
A lot of unanswered questions will come soon in part 2 of my rant on proper Tournament Structures along with bracketology.
Thanks for reading!

MUCMonday #43
Making Up Cards Monday #43: (it's really black, think of it as a late halloween)
A return of our most popular segment of Snow Covered Swamp: MUCMonday.
So these cards started off when I looked at the set, and I told Lolzor, "Hey we need a bunch of black cards for MUCMonday, preferably sorceries." I got back a bunch of ideas and Lolzor turned them into cards.
Lolzor will fill these in with valueable information about how the card was made when he gets the chance.
Lolzor here! So I'm going add some text here. These are all part of a cycle I tossed into our set. I felt we were missing a bit of draft combos and cross play in a less grand sense so I game up with about 5-7 cards that would work well with each other.
Diabolical Cleric - 2B
Creature - Zombie Cleric
Sacrifice a creature you control: Creatures you control gain protection from the sacrificed creatures colors until end of turn.
1/3
One of the first things I saw was lacking and also is a decent combo piece was a sac outlet. Simple stuff, basic but usable.
Assemble the Legion - BBB
Sorcery
Search your library for any number of zombie cards and put those cards into your graveyard.
More of the zombie theme it's very flavor heavy but could be quite the combo piece
Kicking and Screaming - 1BB
Sorcery
Target player loses one life for each creature card put into the graveyard this turn. You gain life equal to life lost this way.
This one was made around the name actually...I really like how it came out.

RCotD #218
Random Card of the Day #218:
Catalyst Stone - 2
Artifact
Flashback costs you pay cost up to {2} less.
Flashback costs your opponents pay cost {2} more.
Normally when I see niche cards like this I just brush them off to side thinking "there's no way someone would make a deck so specific just to use this card." And normally I'd be right--but I actually have made a creatureless flashback deck before while Innistrad was in Standard. It was probably my favorite deck to play, too.
One of the faults of the deck was the mana curve. There were plenty of removal flashback spells that could remove earlygame threats, and late game threats were also able to be bounced, killed, tucked, etc. But even when you had everything setup, unless you had two Burning Vengeance on the field, (which most of the time you only got one) you were still only doing 2-4 damage a turn. And if you couldn't eliminate targets you had to sift through the deck.
It wasn't a very good deck as it lost to both control and universal removal like Oblivion Ring, but nonetheless it was fun and somewhat effective. Catalyst Stone would have been a great addition to the deck to both speed things up and well, that all the deck really needed. But unfortunately, Innistrad got Altar of the Lost instead.
So I might be somewhat biased when rating this card, but even if it can find it's way into a niche deck of it's own archetype:
4/5 Constructed
2/5 Limited.. maybe 1/5 since there's not a whole lot you can do with it in draft, and I might actually prefer a land over it.

Borderlands 2: Ultimate Drink Hunter!
Watch live video from SnowCoveredSwamp on TwitchTV
Well guys it's that time again...another SCS drinking game! If you missed our first one it was a Mtg game for Commander called Comman-drunk. Any way this time it was based off of our recent addiction Borderlands 2. Above you will find our Beta test of this game live on stream, that is part 1, part 2 is on our twitch.tv channel. Lets get to the rules shall we?
Borderland 2: Ultimate Drink Hunter!
Players: 2-4 (because you should never drink alone)
Drink: Beer
Intensity: Boss Fight (which means very drunk)
Overall rules:
One Drink Rules
-Stealing a Second Wind
-Receiving a Badass Rank
-Spoken to by Handsome Jack or Angel (Not just them talking, only when they speak directly to the party)
-A Character is introduced by a splash screen
Two Drink Rules:
-If Jack taunts you instead take 2 drinks
Three Drink Rules:
-Handsome Jack Whistles
Finish your drink:
-Total party kill (Everyone in your party dies at once an no one can second wind)
-A main character dies (in memorandum)
Ultimate Drink Hunter Rule (Optional):
-If you are dying waterfall your drink (As long as you have a decaying red bar on your screen you continuously drink your drink. You may stop if you are being revived)
Class Specific Rules:
Whenever all of your turrets die (not time out just get destroyed), take a drink.
Whenever a Phaselocked target does not die, take a drink
Whenever you gunzerk outside of combat, take a drink
Whenever you activate Decepti0n and do not kill something, take a drink.
\
Overview:
Well there you have it, basically what we tried to do was ensure that even if you were doing well you would have some mild drinking going on but mess up's were punished severely. The class specific skills were all based around the action skill of each person and we didn't do the DLC classes because well...we haven't played them enough. In that some vein this was written for the main storyline but you guys can suggest other rules for the DLC campaigns or just other rules in general in the comments. We played with most of these rules including the optional Drink Hunter rule in the video we hope you enjoy we got quite silly in it.
Remember if you are going to play this game: Drink Responsibly, Know Your Limits, and Don't Drive. The last thing we want is any of you getting hurt this is purely for entertainment.
The last thing I will leave you with is one more clip from the nigh, enjoy and we will see you Sunday!

RCotD #217
Random Card of the Day #217:
Enigma Eidolon - 3U
Creature - Spirit
U, Sacrifice Enigma Eidolon: Target player puts the top 3 cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
Whenever you cast a multicolored spell return Enigma Eidolon from your graveyard to your hand.
2/2
Hey guys, it's been awhile since we did one of these, so let's see what we have.
It's a 2/2 for 4 so its behind the curve, but its has recursion and its not too hard to pull off. It's ability is a sac to mill and its only 3 so that's pretty disappointing. I'm going to just say this now, this card has no real home in constructed play it's just too weak. That being said though this card in draft is a house in my opinion. Mill will always be strong in draft due to the small deck sizes and depending and the set you are always in a multicolor (now look at what set this is from so yea there are multicolor spells everywhere). If this guy had flying it would be a first or second pick almost.
Overall it's a 2/5 constructed but a 4/5 limited.
One last thing I'd like to mention Wizards announced the new duel deck today its Jace vs Vraska, you can find the full article here : http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/1346
Enjoy guys see you Wednesday.

Another Kickstarter?
So...if you guys didn't know I am a huge fan of LoadingReadyRun. If you don't know who they are well then you are dead to me but I guess I'll enlighten you. LRR is a sketch comedy group that has been producing for years now. They do all kinds of shows that air on The Escapist, Penny Arcade, Wizards of the Coast, and more (and their own site of course). Any way they are finally coming to a close on a lot of their work because its time for them to move on to bigger and better things. This kickstarter is to fund one last season of their show.
Now it has already been funded but It can always be better, I figured this would be a good way to bring attention to something I love while also helping them out.
You can watch their videos and all their content here: www.loadingreadyrun.com
and you can find their kickstarter here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/811923656/lrrs-last-season-of-sketches?utm_source=LRR_ad&utm_campaign=KICKSTARTER
Anyway decide for yourselves but I do hope you enjoy a group I have been watching for at least 6 years

Not So Random Card: You Make the Card
Not So Random Card: You Make the Card:
Waste Not - 1B
Enchantment
Whenever an opponent discards a creature card, put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield.
Whenever an opponent discards a land card, add {B}{B} to your mana pool.
Whenever an opponent discards a noncreature, nonland card, draw a card.
Every once in a while, the community of Magic: the Gathering gets an oppurtunity by Wizards to make a card. One of the famous cards that we (the magic community) created was Crucible of Worlds. Now presenting you, the newest discard deck champion.
I must say, I love this card. I never really like discard decks--they really didn't have a way to win outside of dredge. Megrim was an overcosted way to win and even the strictly better Liliana's Caress gave an okay way to win. But it really lacked in the winning department, in the same way that mill was considered a weak and stupid way to win.
I like that it's opponents only, which makes it not abusable. But besides that its going to be a key component in every sideboard against dredge.
Another thing that I've heard comments on is that it's too powerful for converted mana cost. 2 mana for all of this on an enchantment. While I think this argument holds value, let's keep in mind that it basically has to be powerful. Without this card the discard-archetype of a deck would just vanish and most likely not return. At least with a card like this a stupid archetype will exist, allowing a variety in decks to compete.
They could have made the card more vulnerable, such as putting this on legs. But honestly I think modern has enough 2 drops with value on it at the moment.
I feel this card would be weak in limited though. Unless the next set contains a bunch of discard or graveyard play (like Innistrad) then I feel it would be lacking in that department.
It should be mentioned that one of the reasons Lolzor got into magic was Liliana's Duel of the Planeswalkers discard deck featuring Megrim and The Rack. So needless to say he will be ecstatic when this card is released.

All the Magic!
So this weekend me and Sefah got together in person (hence our console stream) but also we were joined by our buddy MourningPhoenix (aka Trevor). Now when ever us three get together we tend to play Magic...a lot of Magic. And that's what ended up happening loads of EDH, trading, playing "Modern" (I did finally finish my decks), and in a surprise turn of events me and Sefah even got into a RTR Block Sealed on Magic Online. I'm going to post the stream of our sealed below and some fun interactions that happened in some of our EDH Games. There is a small issue with sound for the first 2 minutes.
Watch live video from SnowCoveredSwamp on TwitchTV
Watch us ignore a viewer for 15 min >_<
EDH Hightlights:
1. Mourning Phoenix has Mycrosynth Lattice on field with Darksteel Forge. PennyLane plays Merciless Eviction and restarts the game.
2. Mourning Phoenix drops a Jace the Mindsculptor uses +0 for "Brainstorm". In response Sefah plays Notion Thief netting 3 cards and losing Phoenix 2 cards.
3. Sefah stole a Sunblast Angel that was enchanted with Gift of Immmortality, repeatedly swung into Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts to trigger repeatedly.
4. Lolzor plays a Mind Rot into a Possibility Storm to pull Ashes to Ashes to deal with 2 on board Ulamogs. Next turn Devil's Play for 9 damage with Rakdos Lord of Riots on field drop Artisan of Kozilek bringing back Bloodhunter Bat to play Darksteel Colossus.
5. Mourning Phoenix plays Enter the Infinite pulls Deck. Next turn play Labratory Maniac in response is forced to draw from another players Mikokoro
Well hope you guys enjoyed the sealed and some fun plays. See you guys Wednesday

So I'm gonna be honest with you guys, between the Theros prerelease and school and work me and Sefah are just exhausted. So to fill your time here is a stream we had backlogged. It's totally not Megaman...
Hey guys its Wednesday and it's my turn to write this week so let's begin. I'm using my article to bring light to a project that I really wanna see get to it highest potential.
As most people know we here at SCS love Megaman, it's just an amazing series. Now Capcom has not been to kind to our franchise as of late, but what if we could just let the developers make us a megaman game and kick Capcom out of the picture? Well basically that's what happened. Keiji Inafune is one of the grandfathers of the Megaman and has started his own game company along with other veterans of the series in an attempt to make a "Classic Japanese" side scroller. Now the game is about a robot who fights other robots and gets their powers...but its not Megaman, this new hero is Beck aka Mighty No 9. Now this project was mostly met with a shut up and take my money feel but there is still criticism floating around there. Most of the negative light is about unoriginal games and remake of old characters is holding us back, as well as general mistrust of Kickstarter (where the funding for this project is being held) since the DoubleFine issues.
Over all though the game looks to be very awesome, the team as been very communicative, and its very hard not to be excited. I've already done my share and pledged and it passed its start up goal in a matter of hours...but these stretch goals are very enticing and if you think its worth being made than its worth a few bucks to make sure its the best possible.
Here is a link to the Kickstarter page: Mighty No 9
Not Megaman <_<

Theros Watch Day 3
Boon Satyr is an endangered species, and by that I mean a playable bestow card. Now I'm not hating on this mechanic is cool and interesting but because of its nature it was obvious there would only be a few playable and the rest would be way over costed. The reason this guy is good is a 3 cost 4/2 with flash is nothting to scoff at and 5 mana is not bad for the effects of Bestow. This might see some play but I'm not sure I feel like some enchantment removal still really hurts this whole principle.
Lets do the flip side here, devotion is a wonderful mechanic in my eyes. Look at this card everything is just right about it. Comes in and you are gonna get an army of these elementals and he is a non-legendary creature so you can stack this up and make them bigger. What's that you say? Oh you are right if Master of Waves is destroyed you lose your army...BAM PROTECTION FROM RED! Yea he is still vulnerable but a noteworthy protection is more than I would expect from this card so it was a pleasant surprise. The icing on the cake is that this is a merfolk. This card seems pretty strong in its right deck. Good Job Wizards.
Reverse Fact or Fiction? I'll take it. This is a very strong card and I like it a lot, it seems like control will finally have a chance to come back into the day light. The only thing that holds this card back is it is U/R so you aren't able to splash this but America control is happy for this card for sure.
Oh monstrosity I don't know what to do with you. This card is really good but I'm hesitant to like it because its monstrosity. A 3/3 for 2 and the ability to become a 4/4 with hexproof and indestructible is strong but as Sefah mentioned to me this is looking like the new "Level Up" mana sinks aren't the best but this guy could change the mold.
Lastly we have the planeswalkers. These 2 are basically opposites of each other, Xenagos is amazing as can be and Ashiok is....awkward. I cant see our Gruul friend here not played in multiple formats he has too much utility and power. Now Ashiok I can't really talk about...because I just don't know with him. The last thing I want to mention is the so called "Planeswalker Test" and this seems like the best place to talk about it. Basically the idea is there are 3 things you look for in a PW: Self-Protection, Utility, and A crazy ult. If we look at Xenagos he has his 0 for protection his +1 is some great utility and his ult is very strong...Ashiok does not pass this test. The one good thing though is no Emblems.
Ok guys thats all for now. Next week everything should be up so we will have a final article then.
